Writing about this wedding seems impossible. Not because I do not have anything to say about this day or this couple but because I have too much to say! 🙂 I had never photographed Lauren and Derek prior to their wedding day, which is sometimes rare with the couples that hire me. During their engagement, they were finishing seminary school in New Jersey, and they did not move back until a month prior to their wedding day. Even though I did not see them until 3 weeks from the day, I actually knew who Lauren was from high school! Small world, right? A handful of guests and people in the bridal party went to my high school too! I just love how my job has given me a chance to get to know people I did not take the time to years back. Such a gift!
Now where do I even start with Lauren and Derek? They were one of those couple’s that got in front of the camera and were so natural. I was there with them, yet the photos made me feel as if I wasn’t because their interactions were so real. Genuine. There were just too many incredible moments in the day to count, and I loved every second of it! Getting the chance to photograph a wedding at The Morton Arboretum was a dream come true! With everything at one location, it made such a relaxed environment for taking photos without any rush. And hello!!!! …. every inch of that venue is stunning!
I know, I know, I need to wrap this up! However, I must last address how much I just drooled over the handmade details that were so thoughtfully put together. You guys totally loved Lauren’s dress, right? Yeah … she MADE it herself. You think I am kidding? Nope! I loved that they subtly carried the sewing theme throughout the wedding details too! They stitched the wedding brochures together, and they also stitched the guest seatings cards too! This day was a dream to capture, and I am so proud of the images that came from it. Lauren and Derek, you two were a joy to get to know and photograph. I cannot express how thankful I am to have taken your wedding photos 🙂
Also, a big thank you to Gleam Photography for second shooting this day along side me!
